Flamingo Anatomy

The Flamingo is one of the tallest birds, with some of them being up to 5 feet tall.

There is evidence to indicate the Flamingo evolved at least 30 million years ago, perhaps longer.

Flamingos are filter feeders which means they take in water and food, and then the water is expelled from the body.

The habitat for Flamingos is very diverse and they live in more places than many people realize.

Flamingos tend to live in regions that have very little food to offer other animals. As a result they benefit from not having many natural predators.

When Flamingos are about 6 years of age they are ready to start mating. This will take place within their own colony.

Flamingos are very social animals which is why you will find them living in large groups.
