Flamingo Facts

Flamingos are wading birds. There are only four species of flamingos in the Americas and two in the old world.

The Flamingo is one of the tallest birds, with some of them being up to 5 feet tall.

There is evidence to indicate the Flamingo evolved at least 30 million years ago, perhaps longer.

Flamingos tend to live in regions that have very little food to offer other animals. As a result they benefit from not having many natural predators.

When Flamingos are about 6 years of age they are ready to start mating. This will take place within their own colony.

The Flamingo is a very interesting animal, and one that there has been a great deal of research about.
